Since joining the Eagan City Council in 2008, my focus has been on innovation, transparency, and engagement. During my Council tenure, Eagan has been recognized for local government innovation, policy and budget transparency, and citizen engagement. We intend to continue these successes through ambitious goals, including major initiatives for race equity and inclusion, sustainability, and orderly redevelopment.
Operation Metro Surge raised awareness of the need to express our beliefs and do our part to promote diversity and inclusion and advocate for social equity and justice. Under the Council’s guidance, Eagan is committed to providing equal opportunity for all and supporting social equity through our race equity and inclusion strategies.
Our sustainability efforts are highlighted by adoption of a Climate Action Plan outlining strategies and actions to achieve sustainability goals. Realization of these goals will enable net zero emissions from City operations and community-wide, protecting residents’ health and welfare.
Eagan is recognized as a great place in which to live, work, play, and thrive. This reflects the high quality of life that Eagan offers our residents. The Council continues to be guided by its vision for orderly redevelopment to preserve and enhance our quality of life.
I support our race equity and inclusion and sustainability initiatives, and the Council’s redevelopment vision. I’m an advocate for transparency and open communication to promote these initiatives and explain our vision. As part of this effort, I distribute to a growing list of Eagan residents a monthly email update of Council and City activities. I welcome comments on the topics addressed or other issues. I often receive inquiries and suggestions in response to these updates resulting in follow-ups and resolution of issues. Together with citizen advisory commissions, listening sessions, public meetings to discuss city projects and budgets, and community engagement through surveys and feedback mechanisms, this is an effective way to communicate with residents and provide opportunities to share their thoughts or seek assistance with issues they may have.
